The digestive system is a group of organs responsible for the breakdown and absorption of food and the elimination of waste. It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. Salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas are also important organs that aid in the digestion process. The process begins in the mouth with chewing and the release of enzymes and ends in the rectum with the elimination of solid waste. Nutrients from food are absorbed through the walls of the small intestine and transported to the rest of the body.

There are many common digestive problems that can affect the digestive system, some of the most common include:

    1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): a condition in which stomach acid leaks back into the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.

    1. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): a condition that causes abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea.

    1. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): a group of conditions that cause inflammation in the digestive tract, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

    1. Gastritis: inflammation of the stomach lining, which can cause stomach pain and discomfort.

    1. Ulcers: sores that form in the lining of the stomach or small intestine, which can cause abdominal pain and other symptoms.

    1. Hemorrhoids: swollen veins in the rectum or anus that can cause itching, pain, and bleeding.

    1. Constipation: infrequent or difficult bowel movements

    1. Diarrhea: frequent loose, watery stools.

It is always a good idea to consult our Vaidh Ji if you have any persistent symptoms of digestive problems.
